Sexism

Hey Sports Illustrated, why don't you feature women for being great athletes...not sex objects?

Hi Everyone,

The Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue 2016 came out this week.

I wrote this letter to SI in protest.

"You should be ashamed of yourself Sports Illustrated. Your swimsuit issue is all about using sexism to make money.

Think about how much harm you are doing in terms of how women are perceived. Think about the message that you are sending to the millions of boys and men, and women and girls, who read your magazine.

There are more pictures of women in your most recent issue than in your last 50 issues combined. But why are they featured in America's top sports magazine? Not because of their athletic accomplishments. Only because of the way they look. They are models, not athletes. And, Ronda Rousey, the one great athlete who you feature on your cover? You show her naked, wearing only body paint.

I'm only 13 years old. But I'm a girl, I'm an athlete, and I know this is wrong.
